Photo of the Moment

SevenStock 4
SevenStock 7 The King is Back
The KING IS BACK
Date: September (10th-12th) 2004
Location: Mazda R&D, Irvine, CA.

This is possibly the the LAST SevenStock Event. This event will show by far the largest diversified amount of rotary power ever! From R100's to RX-8's, and the largest showing of rotary powered race cars, this is a DO NOT MISS event! This will also be the last stop for the 1991 LeMans Winning, 4-Rotor 787B scheduled tour in the US!
Start making plans, now!

why kill a giant in growth?

Hi I've been a Mazda rotor head for years and a Mazda Sales associate for 7 years within those years i have seen the Mazda Rotor population increase in a tremendous rate, more and more people that didn't know what a rotor engine was are getting more involved and hoked on the RX revolution wave, if this event wich is only held once a year is killed, not only Mazda as a corporation will lose sales but also will loose people and fans of not only the rotary engine but Mazda it self. With the coming of the SPEED versions of Mazda's instead of killing what has been a outstanding event for years in the Mazda RX7 Sevenstock, Mazda should increase, promote, and support this event by adding the MAZDASPEED's to it. Don't make it just for rotor fans but for all Mazda performance people.
Mazda should take in consideration the fact that it's brand is highly promoted by Mazda owners and not by the great amounts of money spent in advertisement, let's face it we do not have the same advertisement budget that other competitors such as Toyota, Honda and Nissan have. If Mazda considers killing events such as this one instead of supporting it, Mazda would be betraying and killing it's greatest advertiser of all it's customers.

What is wrong with you? Every year SS shows outrageous growth. So why kill it off? I can see some of the following scenarios:

1. No more SevenStock, but maybe next year it'll be EightStock. This is a silly thing to do, since regardless of the popularity of the RX-8, the RX-7 is still the #1 car associated with the rotary engine.

2. Maybe it's because Mazda's HQs are getting too dang small for the event. I've been the SS-5, and it was awfully crowded. If this is the reason, then you folks should look for more accomodating locations to hold the event. Don't just kill it off entirely!

3. Maybe Mazda is getting lethargic, not too happy with the '8's sales figures, and is now ready to finally bury the rotary, especially in light of the fact that oil reserves are drying up and the rotary still hasn't improved its fuel economy appreciably. For prior art, one needs to look no further than the Motorola 68000 microprocessor series, which was the #2 selling microprocessor in the world until Motorola successfully killed it in favor of PowerPC (which to this day still doesn't amount to a hill of beans compared to the sales of other RISC CPUs in toto).

If this is the last SevenStock, then I see no earthly reason why I'd want to attend this one.

Why should it be the last?

This event IS by far the greatest thing to happen to the rotary comunity. Second, if there is a problem with Mazda having to flip the bill for the event, then by all means find more sponsors or a way to make the event keep happening.

If the venue for the event is getting small, which i think for SS7 it will be, you should make provisions for next year to find a venue that will live up to the task of providing a place for all us rotary fans to join together and enjoy this wonderful nirvana.

If it aint broke dont fix it, just make it better.

1. There will probably not be an EightStock... Or if there is, it will probably go back to SevenStock for SevenStock 9...

2. This is a MAJOR reason, one of many

3. Mazda doesn't have too much to do with SevenStock, other than picking up some of the costs.

If you don't attend, you won't know. And you will miss out on one of the best events ever for a rotor head, and all because you think it is a mistake for this to may be the last one. Sounds kinda like a stupid reason for me...
